Making Things
Ask a Marmot Designs is a result of the firm belief that the world would be happier if everyone made something every day.. I have made things ever since I can remember, and have given in to the fact that I make things. Also, I love beautiful things, cheery useful things, and almost anything that brings nature and animals into the living or work spaces we occupy. To that end, I have now opened an etsy store--www.AskAMarmot.etsy.com, where you can find some small critters, wood boxes, display and phone shelves, and I just added some candle holders for birthday cake candles!
As to making, I am a technique collector-- I've recently added fusing glass and working with wood to sewing, knitting, embroidery, drawing, and ....

Writing is Making, Too
The Girls' Guide to AD/HD and lots of others
I like (need?) to write* and have done so for a way to make a living. And writing about things I make seems like a natural result of all this. I have variously taking on learning various techniques, including knitting, sewing, and now working with wood and fusing glass (and drawing and embroidery and yadda).
Some of my writing has even made it into print-- along with projects in some books, I've written a couple of books, including (notably) Girls' Guide to AD/HD: Don't Lose This Book!, published by the wonderful folks at Woodbine House Publishing.
*just because I write for a living doesn't mean that I can proofread worth a dang. I am quite sure there are copy errors and would be glad to hear about them! I always think I've rounded them all up and put them out of my misery, but then another one sneaks in. I just fixed two and wonder how many more I added in the process?

About Creativity
I'm still trying to figure out why some of us make stuff. I'm reminded of an artist who visited a neuroscientist and asked "Why do I have to make really, really big sculptures?"
The only honest answer to that question was the answer the artist received: "We don't know."
Wish I understood it! So I'm reading about creativity and trying to figure out a little more-- check the blog for more on those intermittent investigations.
